eBay Shill Bidding - how to increase price on ebay - Overprint Gandhi stamps Briefmarken Timbres

Recently I saw Cameroun Mahatma Gandhi  First Moon Landing space overprint stamp sold for $33.

To me this was overprint just to make money by selling it as Rare or unique or error stamps!!

No value in stamp collection right now as it is error.

Do we buy defective product? HELL NO.

First thing it does not make sense that someone will overprint on stamp.

Second thing it does not make sense to overprint multiple different overprint stamp on same stamps. (Gandhi type I stamp, Gandhi type II stamp etc)

Third thing it does not make sense that some one is willing to buy it for $33 in this Internet age world.

$33 for piece of paper!!

But there are 12 bids and 6 bidder!!!


Do you think this is artificially price increased by SHILL bidding?

SHILL bidding is easy. Just open another account on eBay and start bidding. eBay don't ask any payment info until to want to pay for it.!!

If you win then retract the bid.

You can cancel bid before certain timing also.

Do you think sellers has only one account?

Hell No.

This is widely used practice to increase price so it looks genuine that lot of people are buying it and there is increase in value since last year or 5 years!!

But no one know it was actually paid to seller or eBay?

Also some other stamp dealers will bid on this stamp and don't pay in order to increase their stamp collection value.

eBay seller just don't open case and eBay will not charge commission (10%).

Now you will see some of the ebay bidders are bidding on eBay 1569 items (most of them are  stamps, Briefmarken,  Timbres) with 2400 bids and retracting (take back) on 148 items.


Does it make sense?

Hello Gandhi stamp collectors,

We all know how forgery stamp (replica stamps) are selling in Gandhi stamp collection as well as British India stamp collection of King Edward stamp, King George stamp and Queen Victoria stamps.

In order to be safe we need to see what's going on in different thematic philately and try to be aware of CHEATING from that thematic.

Usually you will see cheating in high priced items where it's worth to do cheating.!!

No one is going to do cheating in 1961 USA Gandhi stamps because it was printed in lot and also government is also very strict if someone complains about this kind of cheating or cheated by someone.!!

Recently I saw a 1992 India stamp of Bird  which was withdraw and very very less quantity available in the market was sold for $1500 on eBay by "kemiflygirl113"

So what are chance of this stamp forgery selling as Genuine. ? 

Seller did not mentioned about any forgery or replica stamps so buyer might think it's genuine ERROR stamp.!!

Error Stamps collection - CDS stamps on USA 4 cents Gandhi stamp from US Army -Air Force Postal Service

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

I think following is very rare amazing cover. Look at it and you decide.




I think it's amazing, not because error made by postal service employee but look at the coincidence with error in year as you can see 1961 correctly if you reverese this cover as "9" & "6" also blend with each other or you can see "1" in 1961 is stamped incorrectly for both "1".!!


I think it is "1" which is stamped incorrectly.

Also I saw one more cover with similar CDS error without Gandhi stamp. (But lost in transit to India).

This is most common if buyers are from India. 

What are chances if buyer received it and complain to eBay or seller that it has not received it.?

We all know what are ERROR stamps in Gandhi stamps collection. I am comparing following error stamps from India Leopard CAT stamps with Gandhi error stamp!!

Do you really think this GENUINE error stamps.!! or forged by exposing partly to chemical such as bleach or sunlight ?

USA Gandhi error stamp

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

In past 2 years I had seen lot of Gandhi Perf shift error, but recently I saw Perforation shift USA Gandhi 4 cents stamp.!!

One-way perforation mistakes occur when sheets of stamps are moved either vertically or horizontally during the perforation process it will error stamps, misperf stamps, producing error stamps.

Two-way perforation mistakes occur when sheets of stamps are moved both vertically and horizontally during the perforation process, instead of just one direction and it will error stamps, misperf stamps, producing error stamps.


Following is example of One-way perf error.



We all know what are ERROR stamps in Gandhi stamps collection. I am comparing following error stamps from India Leopard CAT stamps with Gandhi error stamp!! it will error stamps missing color.

Now look at the following India 2008 Gandhi MISPERF error block of 4 MNH stamps and think whether this is indeed ERROR stamp or facsimile or replica is created Error stamp.

If you look at following facsimile or replica (FAKE) stamp than think it's just matter of perforating (cutting) incorrect perforation to make error stamps.

YES above is FAKE stamp which is forged by facsimile or photocopy using modern technology printer and then perforated using cutting machine.

If you don't use perforating (cutting zigzag) then it will be IMPERF stamp, and if you perforated incorrectly than it will be ERROR or MISPERF stamp.

In order to make money they will create forgery stamps, fake error stamps, fake philatelic material, BOGUS philatelic material etc.

Now look at the following recently  India 2008 Gandhi MISPERF error block of 4 or 8 MNH stamps sold by "alphaomegaphilately" and think whether this is indeed MISPERF ERROR stamp or facsimile or replica is created Error stamp.?

This MISPERF ERROR stamps were sold for $16 to $50.!!! Lot of money if you convert into Indian currency.

Now think that if they can error stamps, misperf stamps, producing error stamps, imperf stamps. any stamps with perforation they can print IMPERF stamp and than make a error in cutting.

Following is IMPERF stamp of 2008 Gandhi from India and not sure whether it's was available to general public or not.!! I don't it was available to general public otherwise it will be not that expensive.!!!

Either it's stolen from printing waste or forgery.!! and this kind of IMPERF stamp can be made in to error stamp.!!!

So instead of working whole week just make some FORGERY MISPERF ERROR STAMP and make same or more money by selling it.

Also look at the currently available Gandhi ERROR stamps and think is this really make sense to pay very high price.!!!

How to create Gandhi Error stamps

Hello Gandhi Philatelic Collectors,

I was looking for Gandhi error stamp for my collection to make unique than all of you !! and I was surprised how many Gandhi Error stamps are available in market today.




Now first let talk about types of error in stamps. There are different types of errors in stamp whiile printing or designing and the errors are Design error, Value error, Omission error, Invert error, Color error, Paper error, Imperforate error and others.

But in Gandhi stamps I only found 2 types of error.

1) Imperforate error (Perforations are missing or incorrect)
2) Color error (Stamp is printed in the wrong color)





As we can understand that Imperforate error are genuine error as it was due to human or machine error while imperforating the stamp sheet in the machine. So I will only discuss about color (faded) error.

But about the color error I was little bit curious about it so I went to stamp show and ask one of the expert and he explained me about what's going on with this COLOR error stamp. I also did my own research on this topic and I was surprised how easy is to CREATE ERROR STAMP.


1) By keeping certain part of stamp in Sunlight for few days
2) By using bleach on stamp
3) God knows....

Following are some of the example of Gandhi color error stamp. I am not sure whether this is printing machine issue or man made by exposing various methods to do it. It's upto collector to judge this stamps before they buy or use some experts help(not me.!!).

Now let's talk about REAL Gandhi stamp error.

Look at following block of Gandhi Hungary Stamp. This is the REAL (Genuine) color error stamp in which color(black) itself is missing and because of that you can't see other letters on the stamps. This is not a example of faded color error but it's REAL.

But this might be STOLEN from waste or government archive or instead of shredded or burned.!! So don't consider this as ERROR stamp but it is stolen property from people of HUNGARY.!!



This Hungary Gandhi stamp is the genuine color (missing) error  but it's stolen from waste which was sold on ebay for 1246 US $.

So each stamp cost about 300$!! instead of $2 if it was GENUINE stamp.

FAKE Gandhi postmark cancel from Germany on 2nd October 2009 ???

Hello Gandhi Philatelist,

Recently I noticed on ebay that there is one more postmark cancel by Germany on October 2nd 2009 on Gandhi's 140th birthday to celebrate United Nations International Non-Violence Day. Following is the postmark cancel which has "Emblem of India" and Gandhi Image.

FAKE special cancellation with EMBLEM OF INDIA 

(After reply from Germany Postal Department (see bottom) this are FAKE special cancellation.)

According to my research that only "Emblem of India" can be used by permission of Government of India official such as President, Prime Minister, Chief Minister, Cabinet Minister, Indian Embassy Official etc.

So not sure whether permission was taken to use this "Emblem of India" from any other above mentioned official and in this case it will be Embassy of India in Germany. It's illegal to use without permission of Indian Government and can go to jail if unlawfully used.

( The State Emblem is the official seal of India. As such, use of the State Emblem for official seal is restricted to the President, the Vice President, Union Ministers, Ministers and others Officers of the Central Government including diplomatic missions abroad, Governors, Lieutenant Governors, Chief Commissioners and Administrators of Union Territories and Ministers and departments and offices of the State governments and of Union Territory governments and administrations who have adopted the State Emblem. Offices of Central Government permitted to use distinct emblems of their own may, however, use the same in their seals.

The State Emblem shall not be used for any trade or profession or in the title of any patent, or in any trade mark or design except in such cases and under such conditions as may be prescribed by the Central Governments under Section 3 of The Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950. Unauthorised use of the Emblem for such purposes is an offence under the Act.

Private persons, bodies of persons and sports associations are not permitted to use the State Emblem on their letter-heads, seats, crests, badges, house flags or for any other purpose except with the permission of the Government.)

I did some research on German Post website which is
http://www.deutschepost.de/dpag?xmlFile=828 & also I contacted them by email and got reply from them(email copy is attached). Also I contacted some local German Philatelist from whom I bought Gandhi related material and according to them they are not aware of this postmark cancellation.

Also contacted local Winnenden Philatelic Club President "Bjorn" and he did throughly investigation and he also emailed me that this is FAKE. Even he contacted one local Gandhi Stamp collectors near Winnenden (Schwaikheim) and he was not aware of who created this.!!

This is amazing as GANDHI philately material is one of the most popular and searched on internet auction sites as well as in stamp shows no one has any idea about this postmark cancellation.

My research indicates that following is authenticated philatelic material issued on October 2nd 2009.

1) United Nations:- $1 Gandhi stamp with FDC & Souvenir card
2) India :- 25 Rupees Gandhi stamp & FDC.
3) Croatia :- Gandhi Postmark Cancel.

So now my questions is what is this German GANDHI postmark cancellation?

* Did anyone apply for permission from Indian Goverment ?

* Did Indian Embassy of Germany approved to use Emblem of India ?

* Anyone has proof that this is issued by Germany Postal Service ?

Is it FAKE?

YES IT IS !!! (Read email from German Postal Service)

BTW : - This forgery or BOGUS special cancellation won MEDAL in philatelic exhibition in India.!! Can you believe that.!!! Looks like Philatelic Judges don't know what they are doing or might be they are also involved in cheating or they know this is BOGUS, but cannot do anything.!!
