Gandhi Khadi Stamp - Gandhi Khadi 2011 Indipex Folder value (presentation pack) . It sold under face value!! Is it not amazing.

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

You all know that how much collectors were eager to buy Gandhi Khadi stamp + folder in Feb. 2011. There were very big lines during exhibition to just get it. Collectors were trying to grab this Khadi stamp + folder even online by using multiple id in order to make a quick bucks.

The stamp made out of khadi was available online at the Indipex 2011 website where an individual can only order upto a maximum of 10 stamps. There was a long queue even for the online bookings during the first day of the exhibition.

But look at it what going on after 7 months. It is selling below face value of 250 Rupees. (under $6) even though it was printed 100,000 only.

I know it's limited quantity but it's still enough for everyone's need. Also this stamp will not be used in regular mail stream because stamp value is only 100 Rupees where as you pay 250 Rupees for this. So this will be only collectors item which will stay for ever.

My opinion for this kind of low return on investment is because of  original high face value(you are buying at high price). Look at 1995 Gandhi MS of Rupees 8 currently selling for 300-400 Rupees in just 16 years which is almost 40 times it's face value and I will be happy if we all can see this kind of return on this Khadi stamps even after 50 years!!

Also compare to 1995 in 2011 there are lot more dealer and collector has bought it. Where as in 1995 less dealer/collector got this in hand as certain dealer/collector grab all the stock because of low investment.!!

So again I think Indian Post (Gov. of India) did excellent decision by keeping this price high.  Also I think India is booming so all collectors can afford this price and because of this it will keep tab in price as lot of collector has multiple in their collection including me.!!

This is the lowest price in last 7 months. It usually sells around 290 rupees but I think now collectors are losing patience of holding this high value investment. I think it's better to invest in smaller amount Gandhi stamps than big one like this.

I don't think this is for investment at all.

Thanks
GSC

Unbelievable Price of Gandhi Khadi Stamp Sheet and Folder - Presentation Pack issued during 2011 Indipex

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

Last week one of the most hyped 2011 Gandhi Stamp sheet  was sold under $3.!! This price is below face value of 250 Rupees ($5.50). Can't Believe it. 40% price decline in 5 months only.

But according to me this is the REAL price of this stamp sheet as it was auction at starting price for under $1 instead of fixed price which start some were from $7 - 20 or more.

The stamp is unique as it is  printed on “Khadi”, the handspun cotton material that Mahatma Gandhi held as the symbol of self determination and self reliance. The Khadi Stamp  is sold only in  Presentation Pack  which is priced Rs. 250 ($5.50).

Now after looking above screen shot you will get surprised by the price of this sheet and  folder sold for on $2.96 in auction.!! I think it's will worth to wait and watch  before we all buy any Gandhi stamps or FDC as they will be available all the time. It will be not unique as MNH stamps will be available all the time.

And don't except it will go up like 10 Rupees 1948 Gandhi stamps as there were not that many collectors in 1948 and also 10 Rupees was a very very big amount in 1948 for all Indian so only people who has this stamp was foreign collectors who are gaining benefit of this 1948 10 rupees stamp!!. So don't think that this will have similiar effect in future for this Khadi stamp.

Only 4 bids were on this unique stamp sheet even though it is made on Khadi Cloth, it is Odd Shaped(square/diamond), limited quantity(100,000) etc. Also not sure whether Shill Bidding took price to $2.96.!!

Not sure why such a low price of this item & I am confused what is right price of this stamp sheet and also other Gandhi stamps and stamp sheets.

Stamp Valuation is in mind of every experienced as well as new collectors.

New collectors will be surprised that their stamps 100+ years old is worth under $1.!!  (just couple of cents or no buyer also!!).

Don't think that old stamp means it is valuable.

It all depends on Current Market trends of stamp collection. (Which is DECLINING since last 10 years and it's going down tremendously since last 5 years.!!).

Read my following blog post to understand about stamp collection in DECLINE.!!

1) A Hobby in Decline : 1948 Gandhi USED cover case study.!!
2) A Hobby in Decline.!! - Part-2
3) How to invest when philately price is dropping.

If you see stamps are not even selling or selling like 5-10 times lower their value than mentioned in catalog.!!

There is nothing RARE or Scare in philately because this hobby is in downward trend because experienced collectors are loosing interest because value is not appreciating and new collectors are not coming in to this because there are lot of other things to do for them such as playing video games on Nintendo or X-box , social networking on facebook or google+ or  surfing on web through internet or SMS through iphone or android or watch games such as cricket, football or basketball.!!

Only way philately can sustain is to stop cheating in this hobby. Yes CHEATING.!! which is what you will see in order to increase value artificially by inflating the price by SHILL bidding, not paying to seller or mutual understanding cancelling transaction and lot more.

To know more about this kind of activity read my following blog post and think what are the possibilities in cheating, glorification, SHILL bidding, FAKE, Forgery etc.

1) 1948 Stamps False hope of Riches?
2) 1948 Gandhi Stamps: Are False hope of Riches - Part II ?
3) 1948 Gandhi Mourning Private FDC : Are False hope of Riches - Part III?

5) 1948 Gandhi Stamps Early Usage cover :  Gandhi Stamps Are False hope of Riches - Part V?
6) Maxi Card sold for $5100 with 1948 Gandhi Stamps - False hope of Riches - Part VI?

8) Indian Philately Exposed - Part II
9) Gandhi SERVICE overprint stamp price fell from $1009 to $1.!!
10) How can you tell that Gandhi SERVICE stamp is FAKE or Forgery ?

I hope all the above will help while making decision in investing stamps and to avoid getting CHEATED.!!

Now don't you think it does NOT make sense STAMP INVESTING!!

What is right Price of Indipex 2011 Mahatma Gandhi Khadi ( Presentation Pack) Miniature Sheet MS + Souvenir folder of ODD shaped stamp on cotton cloth like Kite shape.!!

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

Mahatma Gandhi stamps are one of the popular stamps from India.

Above is stamp from India issued recently and  I saw that stamp of India issued in Indipex 2011, Mahatma Gandhi Miniature Sheet + Souvenir Folder selling for 333 rupees i.e  $7-8 dollars. I can't believe this price for this ODD shaped stamp like Kite selling for $7.!!

Actually this is not a ODD shaped or not a Kite shape stamp, it is just square/diamond shape stamp on Miniature Sheet on Khadi cloth. It is a way of marketing this stamp to ODD thematic collectors.!! Also NO FDC was issued officially by India Post.

Following are 2 screenshot from ebay from which you can see what is the real price of this Mahatma Gandhi Indipex 2011 Miniature Sheet + Souvenir folder. It was sold for 7-8 dollars only.!!

Can't believe this that a very special stamp printed on cloth(first time in India) similiar to what Mahatma Gandhi used to make for himself by using spinning wheel is selling for $7-8  i.e. only 1-2$ above face value

Another thing I notice that this sheet don't have "EMBLEM OF INDIA" even though this is officially printed by Indian Government where as you will see this in common from other countries who printed Mahatma Gandhi stamp with Emblem of India because they want to sell there stamps.!!

Stamps of India made from Khadi cloth in it. Only stamp is from cloth not whole sheet and folder.

I think this Miniature Sheet + Souvenir Folder will not demand premium for long time because of Indian Post (Government of India) handle this correctly. I think this time Indian Post Office became smarter by following way

1) Limiting only 10 per collectors/dealers. Still many got away with 100-500 or more by different address or by other ways but still many collectors/dealers have it in stock who have 10-20 so there will be future sale of this stamp sheet or folder as they will not see worth keeping it for ever to see huge return.

2) Another thing India Post did good thing is keeping price of 250 Rupees ($5.50) for Presentation Folder. Stamp value is 100 Rupees ($2.20) but you cannot buy it without Presentation Folder!!. Because of this collectors and dealers have limit to invest in one stamp. If price was 10-25 Rupees (20-50 cents) then collectors and dealers will accumulate lot because of low investment, all collectors around the world will have to pay high price for this item.

I know lot of collectors and dealers don't like this 250 rupees price tag but I think it is good for this hobby by keeping face value higher and limiting quantity to collector or dealers.

And because of this 2 reason, I think it will not appreciate very high for next 15-20 years or more as there will be enough for every Gandhi collectors as One hundred thousand was printed and I don't think there are 100K Gandhi Collectors!!!

Stamps of India are famous for different thematic collection but looks like Gandhi stamps from India is popular.

Quantity mentioned above is incorrect. It is not 0.01 million but it is 0.1 million i.e 100,000 (hundred thousand) so this is NOT LIMITED quantity or RARE.

So enjoy this very beautiful Presentation Pack which include Miniature Sheet and Souvenir folder.

Also if you don't have this then wait and watch the price and buy it when you think Price is Right.  You might get it at face value as there will be no buyer when everyone will already have stock. If you don't want to wait then don't pay more than 7-8 dollars for this as there is enough for everyone.

If you want to know more about Gandhi Khadi 2011 stamps then please read following blog posts.

1) Gandhi Khadi 2011 sold under face value

2) Unbelivable Price of  Gandhi Khadi 2011 MS + folder..

3) What is right price of 2011 Gandhi Khadi stamp + presentation folder. (current blog post)

Please read following series of my blog post  to understand what is going on stamp collecting world specially in Indian Philatelic materials and then you decide.

1) 1948 Stamps False hope of Riches?
2) 1948 Gandhi Stamps: Are False hope of Riches - Part II ?
3) 1948 Gandhi Mourning Private FDC : Are False hope of Riches - Part III?
4) 1948 Expensive Gandhi FDC : Are False hope of Riches - Part IV?
5) 1948 Gandhi Stamps Early Usage cover :  Gandhi Stamps Are False hope of Riches - Part V?
6) Maxi Card sold for $5100 with 1948 Gandhi Stamps - False hope of Riches - Part VI?
7) Indian Philately Exposed
8) Indian Philately Exposed - Part II
9) First Aerial Post - Indian Philately Exposed - Part III
10) 1911 First Aerial Post - Allahabad - Indian Philately Exposed - Part IV

So all collectors beware of a big hype or push to glorify not only Gandhi stamps collection but some other Indian Philatelic collection such as 1911 First Aerial Mail from Allahabad, King George V, King Edward, Queen Victoria and other British India Stamps

Indipex 2011 Bangladesh Gandhi Pictorial Postmark Cancellation

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

===== Update 5/9/11 & 6/4/2011 ===========================================

PLEASE READ MY COMMENTS BEFORE READING THIS ARTICLE.

This is not FAKE. Bangladesh Post confirm with me.

Also I bought max card directly from Bangladesh seller and he also used Mahatma Gandhi stamp on the shipping cover.
===============================================================

Recently I saw Bangladesh Mahatma Gandhi Stamp and Pictorial Postmark Cancel of Mahatma Gandhi. I had also written in Indipex 2011 and Mahatma Gandhi blog post.

After doing some more research on this it looks like this is not officially issued by Bangladesh Postal Service. It might be private rubber stamp!!!

Reason for this assumption is that Pictorial Postmark Cancel is only in English. I checked other Bangladesh Postmark Cancel and it has English as well as native Bangladesh Language.

So not sure why they don't want to use their native language on this particular cancellation of Mahatma Gandhi.!! Mahatma Gandhi was also famous for knowing multiple languagues and can write also. 1948 India Mahatma Gandhi stamps were printed with 3 languagues English, Hindi and Urdu.!!

Also no where it is mentioned on Bangladesh postal service website. I also send them email twice but no response from them.

If someone has more information about this then please comment so all Gandhi Collectors are aware of this.

If I will find more information about this pictorial cancel and it is Genuine than I will change my blog post.

Until no satisfying proof it is Fake to me. I am not sure what you think!!

( I got email reply from Bangladesh Post about this stamp and pictorial postmark and as per them they issued this during Indipex 2011) SO this is NOT FAKE>

You can checkout yourself by looking following FDC and Pictorial cancel.

Thanks
KP.

BTW: If you are seller on ebay or delcampe and if you have more info then please let me know so I can update this blog and also buy it from you.

========= My email to 5 different Postmaster of Bangladesh Postal Service ========

I got contact info from Bangladesh Postal Service Website. Check this link for their contact.

Mahatma Gandhi and Indipex 2011.

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

Update : - This is genuine stamp as I got email from Bangladesh Postal Service and I have this in my collection.

I am not changing my blog post but you can read about it and think what's going on in other thematic collection.

Some of you might be attending Indipex 2011 in New Delhi, India and you will be amazed how much interest is going on in Mahatma Gandhi Khadi stamp valued 100 rupees(US $2.20) which is approximately 2 dollar and 20 cents. Also Presentation Pack cost 250 (US $5.50) Rupees which is approximately 5 dollar and 50 cents.

President of India, Mrs. Pratibha Patil inaugurated the World Philatelic Exhibition, INDIPEX 2011, by releasing a special limited edition Khadi stamp on Mahatma Gandhi."
India has never issued any stamp on any material other than on paper. In other countries, materials like silk, gold and diamonds have been used to make stamps.

First of all Thanks to Indian Post for excellent work of making this Khadi stamp instead of paper. The 39X39 milimetre, diamond-shaped stamp is made of the usual unwatermarked gravure coated stamp paper, on which is stuck a square of khadi cloth . A charkha appears in the foreground of the cloth, with the thread spinning out to form a line drawing of the Mahatma spinning.

Indian Post has printed 100,000(one hundred thousand) stamp and now they are printing more because of demand.

Currently this stamp sheet is selling on ebay from $20 to $50.!! What a easy way to make money.!!

You can buy directly from Indian Post website for somewhere around $3. Check it out.

India Post Indipex 2011 Mahatma Gandhi Presentation folder

Following is the Mahatma Gandhi stamp on Khadi(cloth) which Gandhiji used to wear during his Indian Indepedence revolution against British. I think this is the only official stamp/stampsheet from postal department issued for Indipex 2011.

I also verified on Royal Mail website (UK) is another country to issue official stamp for this event, but WHY personalised stamp (Smiler in UK). Following is the half stampsheet(10 stamp) from UK.

You can buy directly from www.royalmail.com for 8.50 UK pounds for 20 firstclass stamp.

Royal Mail Indipex 2011 Personalised stamp(Smiler) with Mahatma Gandhi

Now let's talk about which other countries stamps available on name of Mahatma Gandhi for Indipex 2011 event.

Currently 3-4 Personalised stamp of Mahatma Gandhi from countries such as Bangladesh , Micronesia, Tuvalu etc. with Indipex 2011 logo are available on ebay/delcampe.

My main concern is Why Indipex 2011 logo on all stamp?

Following is First Day Cover from Bangladesh. Here no INDIPEX Logo is used on stamp or FDC but Indipex 2011 is printed on FDC. Bangladesh Post was participant in the event so they can officially use Indipex logo on the stamp & FDC!! So now I am more curious about this stamp and FDC also.

Not sure whether this is offical or Personalised stamp?

Also pictorial Mahatma Gandhi cancel is official or just rubber stamp?

I emailed Bangladesh Postmaster of 5 postoffice to verify this and waiting for reply from them as I Can't find more info on Bangaldesh Postal Service website. You can check yourself on Bangladesh Post website and you will be surprised that it is not even mentioned there.!!Click this link to see it on Bangladesh Postal Service. Bangladesh Postal Service

If Bangladesh stamp is not offical than I am wondering this is personalised or FAKE stamp(printed at home because now a days printers are very advance.!!) because I don't think Bangladesh is offering personalised/custom stamp. Indian Post is not offering that service till recently so how Bangladesh can offer this kind of personalised stamp.

Following is stamp sheet from Micronesia with Indipex 2011 logo.

I have not heard about Tuvalu before this.!!!!! Because of Gandhi stamp from Tuvalu today I learned one more new country. It is Polynesian Island Nation near Australia with 10,000 people in 10 sq miles. It's GDP & Poplulation is somewhere around 225th in the world.!!I think this is good for small countries like this as they make money as this stamp are not going to use and also keep them in business.!!(if they are printed offically from them.)

Also I am not sure what more is coming with Gandhi for Indipex 2011.?

I am not sure what Gandhi collectors want to do with kind of personalised stamps.

Do we want to spend money on this kind of personalised stamp and increase our collection or we just keep distance from this personalised stamp. I leave this upto individual collector.

If anyone has more information about this custom stamp issued for Indipex 2011 than please write in the comment section so other collectors can get more information.

Thanks
