Expensive stamps : Are stamps for investments. ?

We all know how price are increased on eBay by SHILL bidding or by listing at high price and wait for some new buyer to buy it.

Also there is a great push for stamps investment, so some broker or auction company can make money on commission from rich people as they are not aware of CHEATING in stamp collection.

Recently I saw Gandhi stamps from Yemen , Sri Lanka and Somalia were for sale on eBay by "arun7602" for $25 each!!!

And if you buy this stamp for more than $1 or $2 than you will QUIT this hobby and regret whole life why you come in to this.!!

http://gandhistampsclub.blogspot.com/2010/04/gandhi-stamp-value-declining-part-2.html

Of course rich people from will not invest in stamp selling for  $25 !!, but it's for medium income family who earned money very hard.!!

According to me this stamp of Mahatma Gandhi from Yemen, Sri Lanka or Somalia should not be more than $1.!! Yes $1, because it's not a unique or rare stamps of Mahatma Gandhi.

Also chances of forgery stamps are very high because it's easier to print now a days.

But if new collector see this price and find somewhere at half price they will try to buy it as they will think they got a deal, but they are ripped off!!

This is not a stamp collection but it's a stamp game, were you try to make fool (cheat) new collectors by listing at higher price and then list with other id at little lower price!!!

Now if you see following screenshot you will get idea what is the pricing of this expensive stamps.!!

It's barely $1 or $2 and it's available in large quantity, more than new collectors will come to this hobby of expensive stamp collection.!!

Even Somalia Gandhi FDC first day cover is selling for $4.!!

So don't you think this $25 for just stamps are very high or unreasonable?

Don't you think if you don't know pricing and buy this stamp then it will be expensive stamps ?

Read some of interesting blog post to see what's going in Gandhi stamps collection and think in your other collectibles items as well.!!

Stamps Collection : A DYING HOBBY ?

Recently I read about  stamp collection "A Paying Hobby", where there is all kind of praise about Gandhi stamps and investment in stamps.!!

As per article 1948 India Gandhi stamp valued 10 Rupees is paying 30000 Rupees, but as per my research it shows it's current value is 7500 Rupees.!! Click following link to see the current price of 10 Rupees India Gandhi stamps.

http://gandhistampsclub.blogspot.com/2013/01/india-stamps-10-rupees-1948-gandhi.html

I am not sure whether 7500 Rupees is also genuine price because chances of SHILL bidding and non paying is very high.!! So Beware what you listen or read or see is not actual price but "False hope of Riches.!!"

Yes stamp collection is  FALSE hope of Riches !!

If you ask me how much I will pay for 10 Rupees Gandhi stamp MNH, I will say about $40-50 or might be less as there are lot of stamps printed and there are not that many Gandhi stamps collectors.!!

But I will never buy it because chance of getting FORGERY is very high.!! I can live without it.!!

Do you know why stamp collection is  dying ?

1) Forgery stamps and rubber stamps is killing this hobby.

2) SHILL bidding is main killer.

3) False hopes of Riches by artificial inflated prices.

4) Incorrect Glorification of Gandhi stamps by displaying in stamp exhibition or online exhibition, Gandhi Handbook, philatelic blogs, philatelic website, stamps boards, newspapers, finiacial analyst or advisor etc.

5) Even forgery material are in philatelic museum in order to glorify.

6) BOGUS (never exist) postmark rubber stamp are in award winning exhibit.!!

Following past blog posts will help you to decide whether it's "A Paying or Dying Hobby".

A Hobby in Decline.

Gandhi Memorial Stamp folder : A Hobby in Decline. - Part II

Einstein stamps Churchill stamps : Stamp collection in decline.!!

India 1969 Gandhi Birth Centenary issue FDC - Is stamp collection hobby is on decline.?

After looking following two recent screenshot if some one can justify me that it's indeed Paying hobby, I will be really exictied.!!

Alsoi it will explain you that it's Dying Hobby because it does not pay or appreciate anything even after 44+ years.!!

Somalia 1969 Gandhi FDC with 3 stamps was sold for $4
Gabon 1969 Gandhi FDC with Martin Luther King stamp was sold for $5.

Also looks like there is not much interest in it as only one bidder bidding on it.!!

Even 1969 India Gandhi FDC with 4 stamps was sold for 39 cents which is equivalent to 24 Rupees in today's value.!! ( 60 rupees = 1$)

If you invested 7 Rupees in 1969 you will get 24 Rupees in 2013.!! And if dollar rates goes down you will be screwed.!!

In 1969  money conversion from dollar to rupees was 1 $ = 7 Rupees.

So if you invest 1 $ in 1969 Gandhi stamps FDC with 4 stamps then in 2011 you will get 0.40 cents.!!!

A loss of 60 cents.!!!

Can you explain yourself that where is the PAYOFF.!!

If 7 Rupees was just keep in bank for 45 years with 10% interest on it you will get 510 Rupees, which will be $8.50.!! ( 60 x 8.5 ) and no headache at all to get money as don't need worry about keeping FDC in safe place, selling on eBay, mailing to buyer etc.

Your money is safe with nationalized bank.!!

dollar to rupees from 1969            Compound interest calculation

There are more example of Gandhi Centenary FDC which were sold between $2-$3.!! (chances of SHILL Bidding are very high) so you were getting about 150 Rupees if you have invested in Gandhi stamps, but if you invested that in FIXED deposit you might got 510 Rupees.!!

Risks of Stamp Collecting.

Even Uruguay Gandhi stamp is appreciating only 41 cents after 44+ years.!!

You do the math and think how much you will get return on investment if you have invested 100 peso in 1970

The peso was replaced in November 1973 by the nuevo peso (new peso; ISO 4217 code: UYN) at a rate of 1 new peso for 1000 old pesos. The nuevo peso was also subdivided into 100 centésimos.

After further inflation, the peso uruguay (ISO 4217 code: UYU) replaced the nuevo peso on March 1, 1993, again at a rate of 1 new for 1000 old.

So even after 44+ years it's not appreciating!!

Forget about appreciating if you count all inflation then you will be paying from your pocket to keep this in your album and space in closet and also chance of getting damage because of weather or water or fire as it's a piece of paper.!!

On top of it there is lot of headache to sell this as chances are there might be no buyer or it will get lost in mail and you have to pay commission to eBay and PayPal.!!

Also you need to keep all accounting because you have to pay tax on it.!!

Now you need to decide whether it's Paying hobby or Dying hobby.

To me it looks like DYING hobby.

Read my following blog post and you will also start believing that it's Dying if you still believe it's Paying hobby.!!

1) Philatelic FAKE and FORGERIES.
2) FAKE AERO PHILATELY Covers.
3) Stamp collection CHEATING.
4) Stamp Collection Value
5) Stamp Collecting Facts
6) China stamp collection value.

8) World First Flight Cover
9) Greatest Stamp Collection Scandal
10) Biggest stamp collection SCAM
11) SCANDAL in stamp collection

Now does it make sense to collect stamps after looking above blog posts?

I Don't think so.!!

Thanks

STAMPS COLLECTING COMEBACK ?

I read lot of article about Stamps collecting comeback.!!

But after looking selling price of 44+ years old philatelic material of Mahatma Gandhi stamps, it don't look like stamps collection is coming back.!!

To me it looks like it's going  downward (to drain).!! and I can prove it by following images which will explain you that it did not appreciate at all even after all inflation in 40+ years.

It's a DEAD hobby and I am part of it.!!

To me it's nothing but glorification of Gandhi stamps or any other stamps by certain group of people/collector/dealers, investment companies, auction house are trying to maximize their profit are spreading incorrect message/news to new collectors.!!!

You need to decide after looking following screenshot of recently sold (in past 2 weeks of October 2013), Gandhi First Day Cover and decide what's going on in stamp collecting world as you will be spending  your money.!!

Mauritius 1969 Gandhi stamps FDC with 6 stamps was sold on for $2.!!

Not sure what seller will get after deducting eBay and PayPal fees.!! Also 6 stamps might have cost more in 1969 than $1.50 if you count dollar price in 1969.!!

Somalia 1969 Gandhi stamps FDC with 3 Gandhi stamps was sold for $4.

So don't come up on false propaganda that stamps collecting comeback or stamps as alternate investment.!!

Gibraltar 1998 FDC with Gandhi stamps along with other three world famous people was sold only for $4.

Mauritius Gandhi stamps sheet of 6 different stamps along with history of his life, believe and Indian culture was sold only for $1.50 even after 44+ years.!!

Only way to increase price is by

1) Shill Bidding.
2) Selling from different countries by opening account on eBay.!! This covers are selling from South Africa, India and Oregon, USA.!!
2) Buyer don't pay to seller by increasing price. Read following link to see other cheating activity.

http://gandhistampsclub.blogspot.com/2013/08/postal-history-cheating-in-indian-stamp.html

Also forgery philatelic material

1) Forged rubber stamp ( e.g Governor General cancellation used on Gandhi SERVICE stamp)
2) Forged stamp on philatelic material with forged rubber stamp (
3) Bogus special cancellation (Germany 2009 cancellation from Winnenden, Germany)
4) Forged stamps (facsimile, replica) used on philatelic material.

To know more about this kind of activity read my following blog post and think what are the possibilities in postal history of cheating, glorification, SHILL bidding, FAKE, Forgery etc.

Dove stamps - Somalia stamps : How to buy and sell stamps ?

Hello Gandhi stamps collectors,

Recently I saw 1969 Somalia stamps of Gandhi with dove and I was surprised by stamp price. This 3 stamps has starting auction price of $40 and $36!!!

To me it's nothing but GLORIFICATION of Gandhi stamps with high praise by online exhibit, philatelic magazine, philatelic blogs, stamps forum, stamp boards etc.

One of the famous quotes of Mahatma Gandhi will make you understand why you should not buy this kinds of stamps.!!

“The world has enough for everyone's need, but not enough for everyone's greed.”

In past this Dove stamps with Gandhi stamps were sold in very large quantity (30) at $5, but still it does not deserve that value because who in the world is going to buy that 30 set, because there are very few new collector starts collecting Gandhi stamps and even if they then they quit as soon as they realize that they are cheated either by forgery stamps or they paid high price.!!

Want to read more about Somalia Gandhi stamps in huge quantity then click following link. ( or see just following screenshot)

http://gandhistampsclub.blogspot.com/2012/11/somalia-gandhi-stamp.html

So beware when you enter in Gandhi stamp collection, because everything in this hobby is either FAKE or FORGED or GLORIFIED.!!

I am not sure how a seller can start selling at this price.!! But guess it's seller choice to sell it whatever price he thinks.!!

According to me this price should not be more than $2 or $3.!! If you buy it higher than this price than chances are either you will quit stamp collection in future or regret whole your life.!! (Like me and thus I am trying to protect other new collectors by writing TRUTH about Gandhi Stamps.)

On May 15 2013, this set of stamp was sold to delcampe buyer "Brownblackcherry" for $1.57.!!

So why $40 & $36!! Because they are looking for unknown to jump in to this and think this is very important, unique, rare stamps.!!

Look following screenshot and make note about seller who are selling at very high price and you know what to do.!!

So now it's upto you to decide what to do with Somalia Gandhi stamps as well as other Gandhi stamps.

Still cannot decide then look at the following screenshot of sold dove stamps from Somalia and you will understand difference between REAL & FAKE price.!!

Also there are large quantity of FDC with Gandhi stamps from Somalia were sold so beware about pricing for those.  (Let the seller collect and store for you.!!)

http://gandhistampsclub.blogspot.com/2012/05/gandhi-stamps-huge-quantity-of-somalia.html

Now you need to decide following

1) Want to start collecting Gandhi stamps ?
2) If yes then at what price ?
3) Is it worth my time ?
4) Do think it will appreciate in future ?
5) Want to go through all hassle about storing or worring about fire or theft.!! It's a piece of paper.!!

Thanks

Somalia stamps : Classic example how to make money by issuing FAKE stamps. It's easy to print stamps.!!

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

Following are FAKE stamps.

Reason it's FAKE stamps because from 1991 to 2006, Somalia was a  stateless society and legal system. No official government because of civil war between multiple groups.

Since the fall of Siad Barre's government in January 1991, there had been no permanent national government in Somalia until the current Transitional Federal Government. (Source : Wikipedia)

You can read more about stamp collection hobby is a SCAM by clicking following link to my previous blog post.

http://gandhistampsclub.blogspot.com/2011/11/is-stamp-collection-hobby-scam.html

So now you know why it's FAKE stamps because it was not issued by Somalia government, but it is a SCAM in stamp collection hobby to print stamps and sell it as Genuine.!!

Now you know it's very easy to print stamps and  don't get caught, because there is no one from such small countries to come after you.!!

We had also seen FAKE or can be consider FORGED because it's a copy of real stamps from India such as King George stamp, King Edward stamps, Queen Victoria stamps, Error Bird Prey stamp and our 1948 Gandhi SERVICE stamps.!!

Please read my following post related to King George stamp, King Edward stamp, British India Specimen stamp and Nigeria King George stamps to understand what's going on with all forgery, facsimile, specimen, pricing etc.

1) Forgery in Indian Stamps selling as Replica or Facsimile or copy !!

2) Fake King George postage stamp from Nigeria and King Edward stamp from BCA!!

3) Forgery in 1854 Queen Victoria stamp
4) King George Specimen stamp

You can see following screenshot how some dealers and collectors are trying to SCAM and make money.!!

So BEWARE what you are collecting and why are you collecting and at what price.!!

Read my following blog post to understand about stamp collection in DECLINE.!!

1) A Hobby in Decline : 1948 Gandhi USED cover case study.!!
2) A Hobby in Decline.!! - Part-2
3) How to invest when philately price is dropping.

If you see stamps are not even selling or selling like 5-10 times lower their value than mentioned in catalog.!!

There is nothing RARE or Scare in philately because this hobby is in downward trend because experienced collectors are loosing interest because value is not appreciating and new collectors are not coming in to this because there are lot of other things to do for them such as playing video games on Nintendo or X-box , social networking on facebook or google+ or  surfing on web through internet or SMS through iphone or android or watch games such as cricket, football or basketball.!!

Only way philately can sustain is to stop cheating in this hobby. Yes CHEATING.!! which is what you will see in order to increase value artificially by inflating the price by SHILL bidding, not paying to seller or mutual understanding cancelling transaction and lot more.

To know more about this kind of activity read my following blog post and think what are the possibilities in cheating, glorification, SHILL bidding, FAKE, Forgery etc.

1) 1948 Stamps False hope of Riches?
2) 1948 Gandhi Stamps: Are False hope of Riches - Part II ?
3) 1948 Gandhi Mourning Private FDC : Are False hope of Riches - Part III?
4) 1948 Expensive Gandhi FDC : Are False hope of Riches - Part IV?

8) Indian Philately Exposed - Part II
9) Gandhi SERVICE overprint stamp price fell from $1009 to $1.!!
10) How can you tell that Gandhi SERVICE stamp is FAKE or Forgery ?

I hope all the above will help while making decision in investing stamps and to avoid getting CHEATED.!!

Now don't you think it does NOT make sense STAMP INVESTING!!

Also don't you think it does NOT make sense to collect all thematic stamps because it will keep coming.!!

Thanks

Somalia Gandhi Stamp - This stamps does not deserve high price.!!

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

In 1969 Somalia honored Mahatma Gandhi by issuing 3 stamps. Somalia was the only country to issue 3 stamps in 1969 even though more than 20 countries issued stamp of Mahatma Gandhi in 1969 to celebrate 100th Anniversary of birth (1869 -1969). (India issued 4 stamps + 3 Postcards.) & Mauritius issued 6 stamps.!!

All 3 stamps are very nicely design and one of them also have dove (symbol of peace) in it. But there is no peace since 1991, Civil War broke out and  no central government has controlled the entirety of the country, despite several attempts to establish a unified central government.

What I noticed in my last 3 years, 1969 Somalia stamp is one of the most volatile Gandhi stamp. I think reason for this volatile in Somalia Gandhi stamp is one of the dealer has  large quantity of this stamps and you will be lucky if you get it at cheap price because he will make sure it goes to certain price. !!!

Please read my other blog post related to Somalia Gandhi stamps to understand what's going in Gandhi stamps and philatelic material.

1) Huge Quantity of Somalia Gandhi F.D.C is available.

2) A tale of 30 Somalia Gandhi stamps, Is it RARE stamps or huge quantity is accumulated. !!

3) Somalia Gandhi stamp value DECLINING.!!

Recently this 3 stamps were sold for $12 and there were 4 bidders and 9 bids. This is 2nd seller (new)  from CHINA who is selling Gandhi Stamps.

Other seller is "asdaasdaasda" from China who has questionable in selling practice!!

My advice will be avoid sellers or item located in China or Taiwan because chances of forgery is very high as we saw in 1948 Courvoisier Gandhi folder, 1948 Gandhi stamps, 1948 Gandhi SERVICE stamps and even King George stamps, King Edward stamps etc.

http://gandhistampsclub.blogspot.com/2012/07/courvoisier-stamps-folder.html

To me this price is shill bidding or non paying buyer because it's not justify to buy this kind of stamps from CHINA.!! To me it's nothing but glorifying Gandhi stamps by increasing value.!!

There are lot of Somalia Gandhi Stamps available in market and are accumulated by certain collector who will try to sell from different countries to fool you around.!!

Following is screenshot where you can see 30 stamps (set of 3) were sold around $5.!! So there is large quantity available for this.

In March 2011,  this 3 stamps were sold for under $3 in a auction and I was one of the bidder on 3 stamps, but I did not bid more because it does not justify more than that.!!

From above 2 screen shot you can notice that 3 stamps were sold under $3.!!! I think this is a fair value for next 2-3 years.!!

If you notice that one bidder was me upto 2.10 euros. So think of the price if I was not bidder.!!!

Also look at the interest of buyer bidding, almost at the end of auction.!!! This is known as real purchase.!!

So please look at all this factor before you buy it.  Don't just buy, because you need this stamp in your collection. See what are trends going on in Gandhi stamps and watch pattern of buying and selling.

I was not aware of this when I jump in Gandhi Philately and I paid very high price which I don't think it will ever reach at that price unless I start increasing price and stop writing about my experience.!! (BTW: I paid $18 for this 3 stamps.!!).

This is embarrassing to me.!! But that's OK.!! Only one person has to be embarrassed not all new collectors or others also.

Do you why I paid this much price.? Because there was all kind of material about Gandhi Stamps but no where I can find information about Price of Gandhi Stamps and Philatelic material, what's going on in Gandhi Philately such as FAKE items, useless items, what to collect etc so I was alone fighting with this dealers.!! but that all gave me enough experience which I am using now to educate others.!!!

Also what I learned in 3 years that this stamps you can buy it any time because there are enough for every Gandhi collectors and all experienced collector already have it. Also don't think there are lot of new collectors are joining in Gandhi Philately.!! But  I think in future they will be as price will stable down from current rate.!

Gandhi Stamps Huge quantity of Somalia Gandhi FDC. Do you think Gandhi stamps and Philatelic material is RARE.!!

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

In my previous blog I had mentioned about huge quantity of Gandhi stamps and philatelic material is available on ebay, so this kind of blog post will help future new Gandhi collector.

Somalia Gandhi Stamps FDC : What is the value of Gandhi Stamps FDC ?

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

Recently I noticed that 6 Gandhi FDC from Somalia was sold on ebay and delcampe. I am amazed to see how this kind of philatelic material comes for sell.

It was sold somewhere around 15-20$.!!

Following is the details.

Seller : filatelia_fischer
Buyer : brownblackcherry
Price : 13 euros.

Seller : filatelia_fischer

Buyer : brownblackcherry

Price : 13 euros.

On Delcampe

Seller : Parsifalnibelung
Qty : 3
Buyer : Brownblackcherry, Bipin8 and  vkmootha

This is only for reference so future collector are aware of pricing and quantity available.

Reason for this low price is that no one collects stamps.!!

But also lot of FORGERY and SHILL bidding which is killing this hobby.!!

Want to know more about FAKE and FORGERY stamps then checkout other blog post click one of the following link and you will be surprised.!!!

Somalia Gandhi Stamps - Is it RARE stamps or widely available. How much is it worth?

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

Recently on ebay I see lot of Gandhi Somalia Stamps in block of 4 are selling around $17-30.

Don't know why such a difference.!!!

Now if you see following screen shot from ebay it is sold by "the_dutch_moulin" from Netherlands and it is bought by ebay id  "brownblackcherry" from India.

Also 3 other lots were sold by same seller and bought by "1975sunil" and "veerumbm" ebay id from India.

You need to put all pieces together to solve the puzzle.

About a year ago a large quantity of Gandhi Somalia stamps (30 Quantity)  were sold by some Italy seller for 4 euros. Following is the screen shot of that purchase which were also bought by "brownblackcherry".!!

What do you think about this pricing.? Is it good ROI in a year for a seller if he sells in current market.!!

So looking to quantity I think there is enough for 30 new collectors when ever it comes in market.!! It might be in a year or might be after 40-50 years but it will come in market same way what we see currently in Nicaragua and Cameroun Overprint Gandhi stamps. Don't need to hurry to fill your gap in your collection. !!

2 years ago I paid $18 just for  3 stamps  (not 12 stamps because this is block of 4) .!! I am loosing money  on this Somalia stamps and I don't want new collectors to loose money like me.!! and that's is all about me writing in this  blog. If I have facility like this blog I will not have paid too much money for this kind of MNH stamps.!!

Want to see my purchase price then click following URL.

 http://gandhiphilately.blogspot.com/2010/04/gandhi-stamp-value-declining-part-2.html

By writing this blog post I think I am decreasing value of my own collection, but it's OK if I help someone new collectors to get it for real value instead of highly inflated price of Gandhi stamps and philatelic material.!!!

So all new Gandhi collectors, do your own  research and make sure about pricing before you buy 1969 Somalia Gandhi Stamps.!!

Read my other blog posts related to Somalia Gandhi Stamps and decide what's going on Gandhi Philately.

My 100th blog post.
Gandhi Stamp Collecting is SCAM. My 3 year experience tell me Yes!!

Gandhi stamp value declining.!! KAMERUN - Cameroon - Cameroun Gandhi - Ghandi stamp, Syria Gandhi Stamp, Somalia Ghandi stamp

Recently I notice that there is stiff decline in demand of Gandhi stamp, which eventually is declining the price.

Today there were 7-8 Gandhi stamps were sold on ebay at very low price which was surpising me. I was thinking that 1969 stamps from Somalia, Syria & Cameroun - Kamerun are very rare stamps available in the market but this not a case.
