Stamps from India : 1948 Gandhi stamps from India first day cover with insufficient postage : Is it Genuine !!

Hello Gandhi Philatelist,

Recently I saw 1948 Gandhi Stamps from India on official first day cover issued by Indian Post and Telegraph without special "Jai Hind" cancellation. 

I think there are 2 issues with this First Day Cover.

First one is that this 1948 Gandhi stamps from India first day cover has two different types of Jamshedpur post office cancellation on Gandhi stamps of India.

There are total 4 Indian post office cancellation and if you see thoroughly you will see it has 2 different types of cancellation.!!

Don't know why, but your guess is my guess.!!

Second issue is that it has insufficient postage stamps from India is used on this First Day Cover to mail it to USA.!!

This is very common in Fake & forgery of Indian philatelic material such as First Aerial Post, 1948 gandhi stamps from India etc.

In 1948 postage rate from India to USA was 12/16 Annas for Airmail and this cover has only 6.5 Annas.!! You can read my other post with insufficent postage on stamps from India

I can understand if there is little less amount on it such as 1/2 anna or even anna but this is complete miss by more than 5  annas.

It was too much money in 1948.!!

So now do you think this is a valid First Day Cover?

Do you think this is actually used or gone through regular postal stream.!!

Don't know why no postage due stamp rubber stamp from Indian or USA postal service ?

Or this is one more Gandhi stamps from India with philatelic wonder.!!

So all collectors beware of a big hype or push to glorify not only Gandhi stamps collection but some other Indian Philatelic collection such as 1911 First Aerial Mail from Allahabad, King George V, King Edward, Queen Victoria and other British India Stamps.

Do you think this insufficient postage first day cover makes any sense in Philatelic collection which can be consider as Forged or Fake.

Don't you think this First day cover with stamps from India should have 12/16 Annas instead of 6.5 Annas Gandhi stamps from India and also why it has 2 different types of post office cancellation on Gandhi stamps from India first day cover.

Maldives Gandhi Stamps : Is it a Fake Gandhi Maximum Card (Gandhi Max Card or Gandhi Maxi Card) ?

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

In 1989 Maldives issued Nehru and Gandhi stamps to celebrate 100th Birth Anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru. 

Recently I came across with a bizarre finding that contradicts Gandhi handbook and Gandhi Stamps website information. As usual I’d be very grateful if blog readers could assist me in nailing this one. 

I saw Nehru and Gandhi Max Card from Maldives from Indian ebay seller "ashokmehta1955" with this stamp and Day of issue cancellation date of Feburary 15, 1990. I did research on this cancellation date only (not comparing cancellation) and I can't believe it. 

I am not sure why date on this Max card is different then Jawarharlal Nehru 100th Birth Anniversary year which was 1989. (1889 - 1989).

I checked Nikhil's  website www.gandhistamps.com/Maldives  and found out that  stamp was issued on 20-12-1989. To make sure I double check by referring  Manik Jain's Handbook and indeed  this stamp was issued on 20-12-1989. In this book there is also picture of FDC of this stamp with date 20-12-1989.

So why there is discrepancy about date in this Max Card.?

I am now confused, which is the correct date of issue as I see 2 different dates. But I think I will go with Manik Jain's Handbook and Nikhil's website as they are one of the most reliable source of information about Gandhi stamps.

So what do you think about this Max Card.? Is  it Genuine or FAKE ?

Until I don't get another good source of information I will consider this as a FAKE Max Card. One more FAKE addition in Gandhi Philatelic collection.

Lot of things to consider when you buy private FDC or Max Card  such as country of issue, date of cancellation, type of postmark cancellation, who is seller including seller feedback,seller country and lot of other things because all kinds of things are possible. This is also same for USED or Register cover otherwise you will end up some piece of paper instead of valuable philatelic material.

Let me know if you think this is indeed really Genuine Max Card, so I can modify my blog post.

In March I saw Gandhi Max card from Yorkville, NY by "wiwauctions" which was sold for $5105 with 51 bids.!!! This is one of the most expensive 1948 Gandhi stamps Max card sold on ebay.

Do you think this is really worth $5105!! or it's false hopes of riches.?

Do you think there is inflation or bubble in 1948 Gandhi Philatelic material to glorified 1948 Gandhi Stamps to be RARE/UNIQUE ?

I am little bit suspicious about current pricing trend and it's bidders habit about purchase price so I thought let me make sure everyone also understand and in future it might help to new collectors who will know what was price paid in 2012.!!

Following are four top bidders including winner who bidded from $1500 - $5100.

You might be thinking how I know bidders even though ebay try to hide them so there is no spamming activity to real bidders and other bidders.

Also they will make sure it looks like lot of interest in this kind of philatelic material by showing OFFERS.!!

Here 3 eBay id  shown interest in buying it, but this are also BOGUS offers which will make you think it's really worth it.

What I learned in 3 years that in order to be a collector you need to be first know who are your competitor.!! (real one and also fake one.!!) and I see some bidder all the time with same id or after changing id. Some are active all the time and some are taking break!! with different id, but they will come back after changing id and you will see them in each other feedback.!!

Following are some of the expensive purchases in March 2012 by Gandhi Collectors in March which I lost all of them because I am a collector and I don't have this kind of money and even if I have I will not buy it as it is not valued $5105.!!

But there are some like "hitlerandgandhi" , "blue_guy_1234", "philapragya24", "tsashwin" will buy it because they think Gandhi Philately is way to invest or not sure all this are Genuine transaction.!! Click following screenshot to enlarge and see behind the game scene.!!

But who cares it's good for everyone.

1) eBay/PayPal gets commission so employment is secure for employee (which will imporve local economy as well as US & State will get fedral and state taxes.)
2) eBay/PayPal shareholders value will also increase because of this kind of expensive Gandhi Stamps and Philately material will increase there comission.
3) USA (any other country) State and Fedral Government will get tax from income tax  from shareholder who will pay capital gain tax and SELLER as well as he/she will pay income tax on this kind of profit by selling it.

Do you really think it's helping anyone? (i.e buyer/collector really paid $5105 for this transaction?)

In 1988 Burkina Faso (previously known as Upper Volta) issued Mahatma Gandhi stamps along with JFK, MLK and Jinnah.

Recently this stamps were sold for $2.!!

After 23 years this is selling for $2.Can't believe it.!!

So beware of pricing on Gandhi Stamps. Also I think there is enough for everyone so don't need to hurry. Just need to wait and bid it wisely.!!

1948 Gandhi FDC sold for $2856!! Do you think Gandhi Stamps and Philately is good for eBay Shareholders?

In March 1948 Gandhi FDC was sold from Los Altos, California  by seller "drpokiri" . This FDC was sold for $2856 !! not bad at all for investment of $1 in 1948.!! World wide philately hobby is declining but to me it's looks complete opposite in Gandhi Philately.

Do you think this FDC sold for higher price than usual.? or this is the correct price looking to what's going in Gandhi Stamps and Philately specially in 1948 Gandhi stamps.

Who cares ebay shareholder are getting richer by getting commission on this type of sale.

If you want to know buyer then check seller's feedback given to "Feedback Left for Others". But to make it easy I will do it for you. (This is why feedbacks are for. You need to make sure about everything when you are buying and selling on ebay and this is first thing you see.)

Match item # and amount so you know. Also you can make sure by feedback #. You can also make sure by clicking hidden id and comparing with other purchase and make sure it's correct. (Lot of work)

Checkout following screenshot for some of the expensive purchases in March 2012 by Gandhi Collectors and ebay sellers.

Looking to above screenshot it looks like eBay/Paypal shareholder is doing good with Gandhi Stamps and Philately(If all transaction was genuinely closed. i.e paid all money to sellers.!!). That means shareholders has to pay income tax (capital gain tax) too.

Everyone has to pay taxes including seller and ebay shareholders so whole country will do good.

What do you think? Is Gandhi Stamps and Philately is improving economy.?

For me this is not worth more then $700-$900!!

Is it not amazing that selling just 2 FDC seller got $17000 (yes seventeen thousand US dollars) in this economic were all countries in world are dealing with global meltdown but buyers from Indian Philately market is booming even though S&P rating is India is downgraded.!!

I am not sure were the money is coming is from.!!

But who cares as seller is from USA and until US government is getting some benefit of this by getting US federal income states.!!

Also ebay stockholder loves it. They are getting big share in this because they will almost get 7-10% cut from this sale.!! which is $1200 - 1700!! ( I hope ebay get's it if seller or buyer don't cancel this transaction.!!)

Do you really think ebay shareholder is getting from this transaction or IRS (US government tax) is getting benefit from Gandhi Philately.!!

Buyer is famous/rich from India (as per ebay profile, but might be different) who in past has bought very expensive Gandhi Philately material.!!

Following is ebay screenshot of bidder list.

If this is a real transaction then it will make one of the most expensive FDC with 1948 Gandhi stamps. It will also give very good rate of return.!!

Rupees 15 invested in 1948 is getting 400,000 rupees in 60 years.!! So someone has to pay income tax/capital gain tax (long term) on this.!!!

Also there is one more auction for similar FDC is ending today for which starting bid is $8500!!!


This kind of things are happening in almost each and every 1948 high value 1948 India Gandhi FDC/Used Covers.!! So take care. You are on your own.!!

Recently it was again in market which sold for 3 times in 3 months. I am not sure it's same FDC or different but price range vary from $1200 - $260.!! Not sure what buyer who bought $260 will be thinking.!!(Do you think buyer paid $260 to seller!! and have this FDC?)

To me it looks all 3 sold cover/fdc is same item(resold again and again!!) as you can see 10 Rupees stamp has same double cancellation, which also make it same cover/fdc which was shown in previous my blog post. Only thing is changed is SELLER.!!

Of course it's our Gandhi Philately so except such to THINGS HAPPENS all the time and everytime!!

Even I got 2nd offer for this FDC !!

To me this cover is FAKE which has following issue.

1) FAKE 1948 Special Cancellation from India. (Rubber Stamp)

2) 10 Rupees Gandhi stamp is used twice.!!

To me it looks like all 1948 Gandhi private FDC (including Nepal Indian Embassy Cancellation, without any cachet or register gandhi cover or used 1948  FDC on plain cover or from Simla, Pondicherry, Porbandar etc) needs to be verified twice  because rubber stamps are easy to make so all kinds of things are possible in Gandhi Stamps and Philately World.!! 

Most of us don't know what happens in 1948 and after that.!! It's like collecting in blind thinking it's UNIQUE/GENUINE/ONE OF A KIND.!!

Keep in mind that there are FAKE/Forgery special cancellation out there so AVOID 1948 Gandhi FDC or Private FDC if possible. 

It's all inflated price!! by changing seller id with low feedback.!!

Above screenshot indicates it was also sold for $260!! Need to know who bought it then please looks around my other blog post (screen shot) and you will know it. (Let me know if you find it.!!)

In November 2011 this cover was sold for almost $1800 (but reserve was not met!!) on ebay India.!!

In May it was sold for $610.!! to "santuvantu"

Gandhi 1948 stamps : How to find who is buying Gandhi Stamps and Philatelic material on ebay.!!

It's very easy to find on delcampe.net but it's little bit work to find it who is the buyer on ebay.com but it's possible.

This blog will help you why Gandhi Stamp market is hot or how to prevent your self in getting trap.
As all you know that Gandhi Stamp market in last 2-3 months was very very HOT in price but do you think it's real.!!

Recently I got email from one seller (10000+ feedback) and he was asking me did you took ebay's permission or buyer permission to write your research about it.!!

It likes new reporter asking murderer can I write about your murder or bank robber can I write about your robbery.

Now look at following screenshot from BBC News. Did they ask for permission from shill bidder to publish this article and bring awarness among all ebay buyers as well as whole world or did they took permission from ebay to publish their road side sign which can be seen by anyone who drives or walk around their building.

I was really surprised why in the world "Seller" cares!!  because he/she don't care why buyer name is published unless he is doing something illegal!!

I replied him that it's very easy to find buyer. I also told him that I am using all publicly available information on internet, same way a news media like newspaper, TV news etc get their information. (If there was a bank robbery then news reporter don't need to get robber's or bank's permission to print it.!!) There job is to make AWARE of things going in this world.

You don't need to hack ebay's servers or snoop ebay's network or crack buyer/seller password to find out who is buyer on ebay. I told him do following and you will see who is buying it after auction is ended.!!

1) Bid on Gandhi items if you think it will be intersting. (bid  minimum amount only one time)
2) Now after end of auction go to ebay advance search and find with "By Bidder" and type your "ebay id" and check mark "include completed listing (last 30 days)

I also told him that there are other ways to find out who is winning by using ebay feedback which seller/buyer evaluate their buying experience.

Following is partly screenshot of my own losing item(no regret), sorted by price. Mostly all of them are 1948 Gandhi stamps from India.

I bidded on all of the above item, as well as all other I wrote on the blog and Lost.!! ( I have very big database of above kind of screen shot.!!)

Don't you think it's simple to find buyer. I hope you all will start doing this yourself. (DIY) so I don't have to do it.!!!

If you want to dig more what that buyer is purchasing then search that buyer as bidder and you will find all about his bids.

I also mentioned him that ebay tried to hide id because there were lot of private transaction with other bidder and they stopped that as there is no other way to find out who are other bidders. But  because of this lot of seller started Shill bidding on their own item.!! Ebay is working very very hard to find this and prevent this.

I also mentioned that other auction site like delcampe.net don't try to hide out buyer as well as other bidders name.!! So why to worry about buyer name and enjoy the buyer's money.!!

Did you notice that why you don't see expensive item on delcampe.!! (because seller cannot hide activity if any illegal.!!)

I also showed him how to prevent from buyer identitied if he don't want to show who is buying it by listing item as private bidders and also make sure private feedback and he agreed with that it's not a big deal to find who is buyer.!!

But my assumption about high feeback seller is also wrong!! Initially I was thinking that higher feedback  seller don't cheat but that's not the case so BEWARE!!

And for buyer it is proud that they won this auction and did something great for a "Great Soul" Mahatma Gandhi like Vijay Mallaya bringing Gandhiji's glasses back to the country.!!

In 1948 India issued Mahatma Gandhi Stamp and this are one of the most popular stamps for Gandhi Stamp Collectors.

Following are 4 stamps which looks Genuine to me.(not sure 100%)

Looks Like REAL Stamps.

Since last 2-3 months, I am seeing lot of 1948 India Gandhi Stamps, FDC and Overprint SERVICE Gandhi stamps available as facsimile or photo copy (xerox copies) available.

Some of them are selling this stamps as facsimile or copies, but some are not even mentioning about that this are fake/forgery using facsimile.

Now if you look following screenshot thoroughly and then notice Perforation. Did you find something weird.!! if not then please compare with other 1948 stamps.!!

Looks Like FAKE Stamps.!!

Following is the screenshot from ebay. Seller is not even mentioning that this are FAKE or Forgery or Facsimile or copy.!!

So beware of this kind of activity happening. You will be trapped thinking of getting it at low price.!!

This stamps were relisted again starting at $11 but no buyer!! where as in previous listing there were 4 bidders.!!! Also seller mentioned about FACSIMILE.!!

All of you are aware of  amazing things happening  in Gandhi Stamps and Philately world with lot of FAKE, Forgery, Shill bidding, etc this is one more example of it.

Last month I bought a very expensive ($2000) register 1948 India Gandhi FDC from delcampe  to do some research as same  register FDC was sold 2 days ago on ebay for $6350.

I asked some question to seller and wrote blog post about this FDC, and before I even think about paying this seller closed the store on delcampe.!!

This FDC has same Register Label # which was sold on ebay auction today.

Don't you think Register label should be different # ? so is it FAKE or it's ERROR or it's a way of selling in Gandhi Philatelic as well as other pre-independence British India Philatelic material.!!

This register FDC has every thing similar including stamps, address, register label # and CDS has same date and same place on FDC!!. Only difference is seller's country. One is from France(delcampe) and other is from Australia(ebay).

Also on delcampe it was at Fixed price where as on ebay it was on auction which were active at same time.!!

I bought it from declampe and ebay FDC was bought by "hitlerandgandhi" for $6350.

Following is my purchase for $2050 (in Fixed Price Auction) from seller in France who is member of delcampe since April 13, 2012 (only 1 day ago!!) and 22 feedback!!!

Following finding are not at all illegal activity. All this information is available to public by just putting extra effort without illegally entering ebay servers or snooping ebay networks. Anyone can get this information (It is like looking things in public and using smartness what's going on.!!). There is no privacy invasion as it easily available by advance ebay search.!! without using spycam or password hacking or entering anyone personal computer.!!!

Gandhi Stamps Huge quantity of Somalia Gandhi FDC. Do you think Gandhi stamps and Philatelic material is RARE.!!

Hello Gandhi Collectors,

In my previous blog I had mentioned about huge quantity of Gandhi stamps and philatelic material is available on ebay, so this kind of blog post will help future new Gandhi collector.

I am trying to aware new collectors about kind of activity happened in past and depending on that they can prepare themselves when buying Gandhi FDC and not pay too much thinking it's  RARE and they don't get cheated by paying high price for philatelic material. (It happened to me.!!)

In last 15 days there were Sixty (60) Somalia 1969 Gandhi FDC with 3 stamps were sold.!!! It's amazing that after 42 years we can see this many FDC available in big lots.!!

All this FDC will be sold in future, but it's upto us what kind of price they need to pay.

This FDC's were sold by "city-collectables" from poland.!! Following is the screen shot and all of the bought by "www_stampsfromindia_com"

You will be seeing that some of the Gandhi 1948 FDC and Used cover are selling at unbelievable price which makes  me curious to dig more into this and trying to aware all collectors.

FDC was sold for $6350  

Do you Really think this is a Genuine price?

Forget price, do you think this is Genuine special cancellation?

I don't think it's a genuine special cancellation, but it forgery.!!!

Please look at the following screenshot of expensive Gandhi Philatelic material sold  and you will think, Is Gandhi Stamps are for only RICH people or Is this a real transaction or a way to inflate the price so you will buy same or similar philatelic material it at half price or less thinking you got a great discount.!!

Collectors (Buyer) stay in this hobby if you have following kind of buying power  like ebay buyer "hitlerandgandhi", "blue_guy_1234", "philapragya24" , "echobangla" etc otherwise run away from this hobby and Think Different hobby(it's a game).!!!

Do you really think eBay got commission from this transaction ?

It will be about $2500.!!

Or eBay is also CHEATED by seller not paying commission ?

Collectors (Seller) stay in this hobby only if you have above kind of philatelic material such as from drpokiri(aka stampsniper), akhtarkk, barrydavid2005 etc. 

If you don't have this then learn how to sell it at high price and stay in this hobby(it's a game).!!

Study all buyers and sellers activity and then you can play this game of hobby too.!!

Ebay buyer "hitlerandgandhi" from India bought more than 25000 US Dollars worth of Philatelic material mostly Gandhi in last 30 days.!!

I am not sure who is "hitlerandgandhi" but to me he looks like a very rich person!! who is spending this kind of  offical white money openly in public auction market without any fear of goverment because all this transactions are recorded on ebay and paypal and they keeps this kind of information for 7-15 years or more depending on finiancial transaction for any future inquiry.

Do you think "hitlerandgandhi" is really paying for this item?

After looking all the above sold Gandhi Philatelic material,  Do you think 1948 India Gandhi Stamps are false hope of RICHES? I think so.!!
