Commonwealth Day stamps - Colonial stamps

In 1983 United Kingdom issued Commonwealth stamp Colonial stamps to celebrate Commonwealth Day. All British Colonial countries  issued stamp

Four stamps were issued with 4 different special cancellation and one of the special cancellation  was dedicated to honor Mahatma Gandhi.

Four stamps were

Atlantic Salmon, 15 1/2p
Northern Pike, 19 1/2p
Brown Trout, 26p
Eurasion Perch, 29p

But what surprise me that FDC with all 4 stamps are selling below 90 pence.!!

Recently Commonwealth Day stamps - Colonial stamps FDC with all four stamps were sold for 0.25 GBP.!!

Loss of 300% in 31 years.!! So after 31 years it's value is not appreciating at all.!!

Do you think you still want to collect stamps.!!

Even Presentation Pack Commonwealth Day is not selling for more than one GBP.!!

Even Gandhi special cancellation is not helping.!!!

On Jan 13 it GB stamps first day cover 1983 commonwealth Gandhi collection was sold for 1.74 GBP.!!

Reason for this low price is that no one collects stamps.!!

But also lot of FORGERY and SHILL bidding which is killing this hobby.!!

Commonwealth stamps

Hello Gandhi Philatelist,

The Commonwealth of Nations, normally referred to as the Commonwealth and formerly known as the British Commonwealth, is an intergovernmental organisation of 54 independent member states. All members except Mozambique and Rwanda were part of the British Empire, out of which the Commonwealth developed.

Commonwealth Day is the annual celebration of the Commonwealth of Nations held on the second Monday in March, and marked by a multi-faith service in Westminster Abbey, normally attended by HM Queen Elizabeth II, Head of the Commonwealth, with the Commonwealth Secretary-General and Commonwealth High Commissioners in London. The Queen delivers an address to the Commonwealth, broadcast throughout the world. (From Wikipedia)

In 1983 Great Britain issued special cancellation of Mahatma Gandhi to celebrate Commonwealth Day along with other special cancellation.

Recently this cover were sold for $5 with 4 stamps and 2 Mahatma Gandhi special cancellation of spinning wheel.

Even after 30 years this covers are selling for such a low price.!!

Don't you think stamp collection hobby is declining.!!

In past I wrote about Commonwealth day Cover, which will give you some idea what's going on.

There is nothing RARE or Scare in philately because this hobby is in downward trend because experienced collectors are loosing interest because value is not appreciating and new collectors are not coming in to this because there are lot of other things to do for them such as playing video games on Nintendo or X-box , social networking on facebook or google+ or  surfing on web through internet or SMS through iphone or android or watch games such as cricket, football or basketball.!!

Only way philately can sustain is to stop cheating in this hobby. Yes CHEATING.!! which is what you will see in order to increase value artificially by inflating the price by SHILL bidding, not paying to seller or mutual understanding cancelling transaction and lot more.

To know more about this kind of activity read my following blog post and think what are the possibilities in cheating, glorification, SHILL bidding, FAKE, Forgery etc.

1) 1948 Stamps False hope of Riches?
2) 1948 Gandhi Stamps: Are False hope of Riches - Part II ?
3) 1948 Gandhi Mourning Private FDC : Are False hope of Riches - Part III?
4) 1948 Expensive Gandhi FDC : Are False hope of Riches - Part IV?
5) 1948 Gandhi Stamps Early Usage cover :  Gandhi Stamps Are False hope of Riches - Part V?
6) Maxi Card sold for $5100 with 1948 Gandhi Stamps - False hope of Riches - Part VI?
7) Indian Philately Exposed
8) Indian Philately Exposed - Part II
9) Gandhi SERVICE overprint stamp price fell from $1009 to $1.!!
10) How can you tell that Gandhi SERVICE stamp is FAKE or Forgery ?

I hope all the above will help while making decision in investing stamps and to avoid getting CHEATED.!!

Now don't you think it does NOT make sense STAMP INVESTING!! or even Collecting.!!!

It's a GAME.!!

So let's see how to play  Philatelic Game.!! (click to read how to, rules and regulations.!!)

Thanks

BTW :- If there is no Mahatma Gandhi Cancellation then this First Day cover with Commonwealth stamp is WORTHLESS.!!

Yes it's Worthless because after 30+ years it's selling under $1.!!

Commonwealth Day stamp : Mahatma Gandhi Special Cancellation from Great Britain

Hello Gandhi Stamp Collectors,

Commonwealth Day is the annual celebration of the Commonwealth of Nations held on the second Monday in March, and marked by a multi-faith service in Westminster Abbey, normally attended by HM Queen Elizabeth II, Head of the Commonwealth, with the Commonwealth Secretary-General and Commonwealth High Commissioners in London.

In 1983 Great Britain issued special cancellation of Mahatma Gandhi to celebrate Commonwealth Day along with other special cancellation.

Following are screenshot of various cachet on cover along with different types of cancellation, which are widely available(as of today) on eBay between $3-$5.!! as they were printed in very large quantity.

In past it was sold for $4.50.!!

You will also see sometimes this covers comes for sale around $30-50.!!

So BE AWARE.!!

So my advice is to stay away from all lucrative offers about INVESTMENT in 1948 Gandhi stamp from India or any British India stamp collection.

So beware what are you collecting.

So you need to think always before you buy otherwise you will regret.

To me at the end it will be JUST PIECE OF PAPER.!!

If you have money to throw away then start collecting  British India Stamps, 1948 Gandhi Stamps and Philatelic material and you will have a PIECE of PAPER (with no peace of mind.!!).

Still cannot decide then read following blog post which might help you.

Still not decided then my opinion is AVOID it all the cost.!! and have peace of mind instead of worrying you are buying Genuine material.!!!

To me all Gandhi Philatelic material available ( specially before 1950) looks FAKE or Forgery as it is very hard to find Genuine stuff and as new collectors (like me) wants to collect, so some greedy experienced collectors/dealers will provide  all of us as well as experienced collectors.!!

Still want to do research  then please read my other blog post and have fun.!!
