Stamp collection appraisal value - stamp worth

We all are very eager to know about our stamp collection appraisal value as we put lot of time and effort to built stamp collection.

But stamp collection appraisal value is not always correct indication of actual value because there is lot of misleading information which makes stamp appraisal WRONG or Incorrect.

Recently I saw USED 1948 India Gandhi stamp sold for $113 which was more than MINT stamp recently sold for $106.!! So what is correct stamp collection appraisal value

Appraisal company will  think that 1948 India Gandhi stamp collection appraisal value is $113. (sold at half the price of catalog value 130 UK pounds)

My personal opinion about this stamp appraisal will be $5.

Reason for such a difference that chances of forgery stamps as well as rubber stamp is very high on high value (during that time) stamps. There are more forgeries stamps available than genuine.

But also there are many factors to consider before you see selling price.

1) Whether money was paid to seller and seller paid all commission to eBay ? (There is no way you will ever know about this unless seller write feedback about it.)

2) Selling price might be increased by ILLEGAL bidding practice such as SHILL bidding were seller use his other eBay account (it's free to create it) and eBay don't care as they want maximize their commission.

3) Selling price might be increased by other sellers or collectors in order to increase value of their collection.

4) Buyer don't pay to seller after increasing the price and winning the auction.

So now question is after looking at this selling price that did eBay Shareholder are benefiting from this kind of stamp collection appraisal.

There are 17 bids from 10 bidders and some of them are bidding for 500 items.!!!

Now let's see following transaction on eBay where Mint 1948 Gandhi stamps was sold for only $113.!!

So not sure how stamp collection appraisal works. ?

Mint is more valuable than USED stamps ?

Or USED stamp is more valuable than MINT ?

Following are all FORGERY stamp selling under $10.!!!. Seller is selling as forgery and that's the reason price is very low.

So what are chances of you getting this forgery stamps as GENUINE stamp.!!!

I think a lot because it will be very hard to find difference because all kind of photocopy and printers available in today technology world.

Read my following blog post about FAKE AND FORGED Gandhi stamps and philatelic cancellation and decide what are chances of FORGERY.

It' easy to apply RUBBER stamp and make above stamp as used and sell it.

Also chances of getting caught is less because it's USED by applying rubber stamp, keeping in soil  or exposing to sun and make it toned.!!

After reading all of the above blog post it's now up to you to decide about Stamp collection appraisal value - stamp worth.

It's not GOLD !!

Thanks
